About Ward H

Ward H is a growing suburban and semi-rural ward located in Edmonton’s southwest. It includes neighbourhoods such as Windermere, Chappelle, Keswick, Allard, Rutherford, Callaghan, and Heritage Valley. The ward is currently served by 11 schools, with enrolment estimates between 5,000 and 6,000 students, supported by approximately 450 to 550 teachers and staff.

The schools in Ward H are among the newest in the division, with most built within the last 10–15 years to accommodate rapid development. However, these newer schools face immediate challenges: overcrowding, boundary restrictions, and limited program diversity due to capacity pressures.

Despite rapid growth, Ward H is currently the smallest ward in Edmonton Public Schools by number of schools. Yet, it has some of the highest utilization rates in the division, with many schools operating near or above 100% capacity. Families often face lottery-based entry for local schools, and many are forced to travel outside their neighbourhoods for alternative or specialized programming.
